Is it not a bug in Ubuntu packaging when self-compiling fixes it? And if it is indeed a bug in gstreamermm, does upstream know about it? Last time I tried to contact them, they were rather responsive (and it turned out to be a bug in subtitleeditor or Ubuntu's packaging).
