I took a photo of one piece of the headphones and I think there's only one speaker in there - http://i.imgur.com/OA6ZmWq.jpg As for the sound, when you enable 7.1 on hardware mode it changes the sound to create a spatial effect - it works, but some of the bandwidth is lost (you don't hear some sounds).
