http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1505356 Running `cat /etc/sysctl.d/*.conf /etc/sysctl.conf | sudo sysctl -p -` as this post suggests revealed the error to me, an invalid line in /etc/sysctl.d/30-nepomuk-inotify-limit.conf : fs.inotify.max_user_watches = 524288 Commenting this out appears to have resolved the issue. Procps/dpkg or whatever is actually returning the error should return a more useful error, imo. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1240203 Title: package procps 1:3.2.8-11ubuntu6.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/procps/+bug/1240203/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
