Nautilus is the official file manager for the GNOME desktop, and Unity is a shell interface developed by Canonical for use with the GNOME desktop. Nemo is the official file manager for the Cinnamon desktop. There exists the option to choose which desktop environment you want to use, and with Cinnamon, Nemo comes as the preferred file manager, but as long as the GNOME desktop environment stays the "out of the box" environment, Nautilus will stay as the preferred file manager. Leaving this open for discussion seems that it wouldn't generate anything positive and constructive, as it would require changing the basic foundation of the project as a whole, so I am making the decision to close this report. There seems no defensible stance or invitation for further dialog here. I would however like to thank you for getting involved in the community.
I hope that this makes sense, and helps to explain why replacing Nautilus with anything is a bit of a stretch.
