I suspect you were still using unity-greeter and you had removed some
package that stopped it from working. According to your lightdm.log you
are now using lightdm-kde-greeter. If the problem re-occurs, please
attach /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log after a failed login and this will
give more information.
