I face the same problem in ubuntu 12.04. In the Image Viewer, whenever I click on an image, the system crashes and asks whether to run in low key graphics. I don't get to choose my response except clicking on either 'enter' or 'esc' to which the system responds by displaying a set of commands and being stuck there untill I manually shut down and restart....
