Behaviour on my machine is erratic: right now the screen won't turn off,
no matter what value I choose. But on some boots the value I choose does
work, even though it reverts to "never" on reopening.

When I go to the Brightness & Lock panel, even before I change anything, I get
the following error message in the terminal:
(gnome-control-center:4680): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_variant_get_int32: assertion
'g_variant_is_of_type (value, G_VARIANT_TYPE_INT32)' failed
