No. At the time I was a newbie and was not aware that that was an option. I
suppose my comment now would be that the Ubuntu updating system should in
an ideal world detect if possible that a downloaded update had passed a crc
check before it was installed. Once a faulty file is installed it is
something of an uphill struggle to rectify the problem.
