To clarify: I didn't mean that .bash_profile was run on login to X, but was definitely run at some point, so ~/bin was available when you opened a shell through gnome-terminal. The move to dash meant it was no longer run meaning that functionality broke for those using a ~/bin. Really the functionality shipped by Ubuntu in ~/.bash_profile previously should have been moved so that it still worked with dash.
I don't claim to understand exactly what happened, but the point is that functionality broke for people doing upgrades and has not bee fixed. -- .bash_profile is not sources when X session starts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/66004 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
