Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It would seems to me that the bug while booting your installed system must be different than the one while booting the installed system, since giving 'nolapic' does not solve it. So I will concentrate on bug on installed system (black screen), at least for now.
Have you check Tribe-2 for defects? This is one of the option when booting it. Could you, when booting your installed system, press ESC, and choose the option with (recovery mode). This should boot in text mode only, as super-user (# prompt). The great thing is that boot messages should be on the screen. So you can check and note on a paper error messages. If you go up to the # prompt, you can type 'halt' or 'shutdown -h now' to stop the computer. Or 'reboot' to reboot. Please give results here, especially error messages. ** Changed in: Ubuntu Assignee: (unassigned) => Paul Dufresne Status: New => Incomplete -- [gutsy] tribe 3 doesn't boot on ASUS Notebook https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129987 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
