It is no. 22 of the citations listed at Wikipedia. I consider this a
correct citation. So the question is not, if Wikipedia is a valid source
but if the cited article is correct or not and if Wikipedia cites it
correct. I checked my local copy of GREENWOOD & EARNSHAW in which the
etymology of Gallium is "Gallia" too. There is no reference to the
etymology you refer to. There are also the citations of the original
articles:
http://www.iupac.org/publications/ci/2004/2601/1_holden.html#24.

I suggest to discuss your request on/in a valuable mailing list/forum
(e.g. blueobelisk-disc...@lists.sourceforge.net) and add some citations.
