Both -rc4 and -rc2 are substantially worse: -rc4 freezes hard immediately on boot-up, it never gets past "loading initial ramdisk". Modesetting never kicks in. Sysrq+reisub does nothing, I have to kill the power.
-rc2 boots, but freezes hard immediately on suspend (going in, whereas the current kernel freezes coming out). Screen goes black, but backlight stays on. One of two fans stops but other stays on. Power light stays solid (should start blinking). Sysrq+reisub does nothing, I have to kill the power. Continuing tangent: with the current kernel, if I sudo restart lightdm and then shutdown from the log-in screen it works. Definitely seems like an X-related thing... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1212041 Title: suspend/resume failure, Dell Inspiron 530 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1212041/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
