Is that TP-Link AP running the latest firmware? If there is a version of openWRT for that TP-Link router, then you should switch. Otherwise, it is a very laborious process to figure out what is wrong. First, you need to use kismet or wireshark on a second computer to capture the on-the-air data between the station and the AP. That will be many MB of data. Then you need to find the exact spot where the connection failed, and determine what went wrong.
