Same problem here, using Xubuntu 13.04: NTFS volume on external USB device (WD My Book). It works fine on Ubuntu 11.10. On 13.04 mounting works fine too but directory listings don't:
# ls -la media/Musik/ ls: reading directory media/Musik/: Input/output error total 0 The top-level dir listing is ok but for more than half of the subdirs, I get this error. Because it can't even list the contents I haven't tried to read/write/copy anything.
