Workaround: Try to change the font encoding with Fontforge... For me, with some 
fonts, like marvosym, this works.
Font Forge > Open Font > Encoding > Set Encoding > Windows ANSI or ISO-8859-1. 
Later, you can go File > Generate Fonts  and overwrite it.
