Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
- click on the nm-applet indicator to unfold the dropdown menu
- choose a wifi network to connect to
- select it and wait until it connects

Expected behavior
- should show a "connecting" animation while it is establishing the connection
- animation should stop and be replaced by the "connected" icon as soon as the
connection is established.

Observed behavior (since 13.04)
- shows a "connecting" animation while it is establishing the connection
- then the animation stops and it shows again the "disconnected" icon, for a
short but very noticeable fraction of a second*
- only then the icon is replaced by the "connected" icon.

*This is very annoying because it's enough time to actually think "oh
shit, connection has failed, let's try again", and if you are fast
enough and forget to wait an additional fraction of a second, you may
actually have time to click again on the network and reconnect
unnecessarily (it has happened to me a couple of times).

** Affects: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

** Description changed:

- I have just reported this bug but it got somehow completely lost, I got
- a nonsense "tiemeout" error message which didn't even give me any
- possibility to recover the text I had written. Shame on launchpad.
-
- So here it goes AGAIN.

- So now let's copy all this just in case the reporting fails again.
