i thought i had solved this by replacing precise with raring and
updating kernel to 3.10 (see #48 above and the thread leading to it).
unfortunately, it is not the case.  the wifi connection drops constantly
and pops a login window, actually dozens and dozens of login windows
(see attached).  the only way to get rid of all of them is to kill nm-
applet (which takes 300mb+ of memory, more than chrome).

at this point i'm seriously considering returning q190 (a fine machine
otherwise), because i can't get ubuntu to run properly on it.  any ideas
how to fix this once and for all?  thx.
