Just ran into this today after upgrading from 10.04 to 13.04. What is the deal here? This is a major issue affecting web developers (and others). I don't see why network-manager should be overwriting changes I make in /etc/hosts. (I could understand a block that it maintains within the file.) What is the best way to proceed to get some forward motion on this?
