Hi- Thanks for the suggestion. I don't know how/if I can apply the update, since I don't have windows installed and hadn't updated the BIOS prior to removing windows.
This problem still persists, even though I've updated to RR 13.04, although with slightly different symptoms. The touchpad is detected as "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" (command: xinput list) even when it is frozen instead of PS/2 Generic. It seems like I can now *sometimes* solve the problem and can get the trackpad to work by putting the computer to sleep and waking it. However, on other occassions, shutting the computer down and restarting repeatedly doesn't do anything - and will sometimes even result in my not being able to use the keyboard and/or click with an external usb mouse (even though I can move the mouse with an external usb mouse). The output to the set of dmidecode commands is: 56CN42WW 01/09/2012 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1156314 Title: [Lenovo IdeaPad U300s] Trackpad detected as PS/2 Generic Mouse To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1156314/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
