Also affects Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin which freezes most of the time when trying to use HDMI audio (in particular from vdr-sxfe, mplayer, vlc, google-talkplugin) up to and including the current Kernel 3.2.0-49 without including snd_hda_codec_hdmi in /etc/modprobe.d /blacklist-oss.conf (thereby losing sound over the Nvidia outputs).
According to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1173769 #3 "a kernel issue which most likely is to happen with Nvidia graphics", this is also not fixed by using https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio- dev/+archive/alsa-daily/+files/oem-audio-hda-daily- dkms_0.201307180553%7Eprecise1_all.deb according to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1169984 #16. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1169984 Title: 3.8.0-18 HDMI/DisplayPort audio regression: Either oops or opening device fails with -ENODEV To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-desktop-tests/+bug/1169984/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
