I can't believe this doesn't affect more people. It happens to me on
every single kubuntu install I have ever done right out of the box. I
also tried the fix suggested on askubuntu.com and it worked for a while
and then somehow reverted itself, as Rael mentions. When you choose the
option to load the last session, it should automatically create all the
necessary entries in ~/.kde/share/config/katerc if they are not present.
It seems like it should be pretty trivial to fix this.
