Thanks for correcting the package.
The basic installer does not provide a mechanism to make installation 
choices for almost anything (even root password). When I brought up the 
rescue disk I found that grub was not in $PATH and that the grub 
components were not in /boot.
This is significantly different than the first time that I installed off 
the 64-bit vanilla disk which correctly created a grub install and 
(against my wishes) overwrote the installer on hda.
