In xscreensaver, this bug has existed like forever. I used to see it a lot when my laptop's CMOS battery was failing and I had to tweak the time by hand every time I rebooted. This was like a year ago, then on a Woody installation (thankfully now also running Dapper, still on xscreensaver).
