that is the fix, you have to either use that or find a recovery disk so you can go into the recovery console and use the command fix mbr or w/e. But the reason the bug happens is because that people try to install ubuntu on an external drive, and then it steals the mbr from windows and never gives it back, those are the fixes... I am not quite sure what you mean.
