Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6-32
I have found a problem whereby all the 2.6.20-xx kernels cause a Sun Ultra 40 I manage to hang on boot. The system is running a fully patched Feisty desktop installation. Nothing appears in the logs, the system completely freezes during boot, right at the last minute - sometimes the Linux login prompt is displayed, but the system hangs a fraction of a second later (initialising HAL ?) The last working kernel was 2.6.17-xx The problem is 100% reproducable, the system has recently been upgraded to dual core and the "generic" kernel package replaced the existing "i386" variant and still it hangs (so both kernels appear to have the issue). ** Affects: kernel-latest-2.6-hppa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kernels 2.6.20 cause Ultra 40 to hang on boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129714 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
