I also agree on this.  I used the lookahead as my primary navigation
through complex filesystems.  I have so many like-named subdirectories
that this new feature is dropping my efficiency pretty badly.  I was
hoping to avoid using any of the cinnamon forks until/unless they became
officially embraced by Ubuntu (just for compatibility reasons), but I'm
a little stuck.

No rant here, just the facts, ma'am.
