Thanks for testing. It's good to know that the patch works as intended and that it fixes the problem. It indicates that my understanding of what's going on with the hardware is basically right.
Nevertheless, I think the safest course will be to revert the commit. This part of the driver is in such bad shape that fixing one bug is likely to cause another one to surface (which in fact is exactly what happened to cause your problem in the first place).
