U might try the DVD version of Ubuntu which has a larger repertory of software burnt in and possibly additional drivers. It is possible that the CD(if that’s what ur using) may not come with the native drivers to run ur hardware. The DVD also gives additional options to get Ubuntu installed on your computer....Good luck! PS Of course make sure U have A DVD drive to boot the DVD disk.

I put the disk in, go to the bios set it up to boot from cd/dvd rom drive. Ubuntu starts booting, I get to the splash screen/progress bar where the orange bar glides back and forth, then dumps me into that weird prompt. -- boot - /bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/96084 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- boot - /bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/96084 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
