I moved all my data to main hard disk and formatted the NTFS USB external HDD using slow formating (not quick format). I wasted 10 hrs doing that. But even that doesn't help. It works fine in Windows 7 not in Ubuntu 13.04. Chkdsk shows no problem. As I quoted, everything was fine before upgrading to 12.10 Ubuntu.
