I have exact same problem on My Dell INSPIRON 15. On Ubuntu 12.10 or 12.04 - no problems with Ethernet connections. Now, in Ubuntu 13.04 the connection is lost after several seconds(~30!). As in the case of Mark Lok, there is no indication anywhere that there is any problem. I tried running wireshark on this interface but it only showed that my computer tries to send ARPs to the network with no answer. What kind of additional information should i attach to help you solve the issue?
