Public bug reported: Hello, I recently upgraded my Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 from Ubuntu 12.10 to 13.04. On 12.10 I installed bumblebee in order to properly use Optimus (GTX 660M).
Now, if I boot w/o the external monitor connected, I get picture on my laptop's screen. When connecting the external monitor after boot, it does not show anything. If I boot with the external monitor connected, the internal monitor goes blank once Ubuntu has finished loading. I have tried various display configurations using the Settings > Displays. It appears that the other screen is considered to exist when in dual-display settings, since I can drag my mouse and windows to the other monitor. In addition, if the external display is active and I go to one of the tty terminals, it is displayed on the laptop's internal display. I will be happy to provide more information, but keep in mind that I consider myself as an Ubuntu-novice.
