Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hotkey-setup
The 4 display-related function keys in the Everex StepNote SA2053T do not work properly. You can press them once, and they will momentarily blank the screen, which then comes back. But after a second time pressing any one of the keys (i.e. after using one of the keys, press the same one or any other in the set), they blank the screen (both internal and external monitors go black). Which would be sort of OK, except that you cannot get it to turn back on, no matter what keys you press, and you instead have to reboot (which generally means a hard reboot with the power key, because you cannot see the screen). Here is some information about the keys. I used "tail -f /var/log/acpid" to record events (and then typed the event codes in from my other PC -- all this rebooting wasn't very conducive to writing a bug report): Fn F3 - blank display - generates ACPI event "video IGFX 00000080 00000000" Fn F5 - internal/external monitor switch - also generates ACPI event "video IGFX 00000080 00000000" Fn F6 - brightness down - generates ACPI event "video LCD 00000087 00000000" Fn F7 - brightness up - generates ACPI event "video LCD 00000086 00000000" I am running Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Faun; uname says I am running the 2.6.20-15-generic kernel.
