run applications/accessories/terminal
type "dpkg --configure -a" (without the quotes) then press enter.

This is most probably not a bug. Only the programs on the ubuntu
repository, that means programs you install through add/remove programs
or synaptic package manager, are supported by ubuntu. If this does not
solve your problem, you may have more luck with the answers section.
