I booted my system with a usb-stick containing the 13.04 release kubuntu, and I was surprised that graphics worked well.
from there I was able to see the kernel.log from the last build which said kernel: [ 22.252617] radeon 0000:02:00.0: GPU lockup CP stall for more than 10000msec kernel: [ 22.252627] radeon 0000:02:00.0: GPU lockup (waiting for 0x0000000000000003 last fence id 0x0000000000000001) So I did further investigations and tried booting my system with the kernel option radeon.no_wb=1. this resulted in the same graphics quirks. then I tried booting with radeon.pcie_gen2=0 which resulted in proper graphics but some lockup so I was not able to login. then I added both options which gave me a working system, kwin opengl effects working nice (at it was with the latest 3.5 kernel). I'm going to add the 2 options to my grub but I'm still curious that booting the live system from the usb stick caused no problems at all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1172447 Title: AMD video card in my Dell Studio 1557 doesn't work correctly after upgrading to 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1172447/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
