Hi Chris,

i have been retesting some thing as i could not see any difference with
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1107642/comments/22

so after digging into my test stick i saw that that post was with
testing the kernels on raring instead of quantal.

So i have done some digging as why i got loading driver null and it seems that
my initrd was built without plymouth/framebuffer.
Starting the quantal system with an initrd made from raring (only changing the
root parameter) everything worked as expected.

So now i have retested the kernel
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1107642/comments/34 and it
boots correctly without issues.
This only works when building the initrd with FRAMEBUFFER=y in
/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/splash

Sorry for my mistake, but it seems that adding 9a0f938bde7 to a default
quantal kernel fixes the crash regarding i915 ppgtt.

Regards,
William
