I think I cornered the issue. A version with a tentative hotfix has been copied to the LibreOffice PPA for raring as 1:4.0.2-0ubuntu2~raring1~ppa2 -- please test this one viciously. At least for my test scenario of "Startcenter->New Document->Print Preview->Quit LibreOffice" it seems to work now.
