I'm getting the same with fresh knot2 in a VM. The problem is caused by
KDE's session restore starting up the old instance or instances, along
with a startup or login script starting another instance.

The workaround is to add "guidance-power-manager" without quotation
marks to Session Manager's list of excluded applications.

The fix should probably be a little piece of conditional logic in the
script that starts guidance-power-manager.
