Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I am running a fresh 7.04 release and am having the following problem:

Trying to set up a sleep timeout gives this error on g-p-m verbose mode,
while dragging the slider:

[gpm_hal_enable_power_save] gpm-hal.c:1414 (16:50:12): Doing SetPowerSave (1)
[gpm_hal_enable_power_save] gpm-hal.c:1421 (16:50:12): ERROR: No powersave
method found
*** WARNING ***
[gpm_hal_enable_power_save] gpm-hal.c:1426 (16:50:12): SetPowerSave failed!
[gpm_idle_set_system_timeout] gpm-idle.c:357 (16:50:12): Setting system
idle timeout: -7080
[gconf_key_changed_cb] gpm-conf.c:331 (16:50:12): emitting value-changed
: '/apps/gnome-power-manager/ac_sleep_computer'

But there is also no warning in the GUI about this. In the end, the
timeout reaches, and the computer stays awake.

Also, setting up do turn off the display has no effect, also reported at
#46791 and #46262. But g-p-m verbose gives no error, everything seems to
be working.

g-p-m gives no clue after the timeout in both cases. Nothing happens.

I can however ask to suspend via main menu, it works. My computer can
suspend, but seems that g-p-m is getting confused somewhere... that I
can not tell. I can also use xset to force dpms off, which works too.

Hope this gets fixed.

Thank you.
