Try to start gnuplot from the command line and then run "test". Does
that give you a plot? If not, try to install the gnuplot-x11 package.
That should make gnuplot and scitools work as expected.

I'm not sure if this is a bug in python-scitools or python-gnuplot, but
I lean towards the latter.
