Len, thanks for the clarification. Your comments are not 'pedantic'. After installing Ubuntu Feisty on IBM/Len Thinkpad Z60m, i'm quite impressed - support for *most* laptop power management hardware.
I really think a FAQ needs to be authored on this topic, i mean, laptops are really becoming the norm nowadays and its good that people are interested in power saving - albeit for battery life, but this does also help the environment. I think clarification is also needed on the differences between 'find /sys -iname acpi' and 'find /proc -iname acpi' - thermal_zone here but cpufreq there! Why!?!?
