I have this problem for both feisty and gutsy with snd-hda-intel. Here's the output of alsa-info.sh: http://pastebin.ca/630434 Adding slowptr 1 doesn't help, but it wasn't expected to since this is supposed to already be enabled on gutsy's version of alsa.
