Public bug reported: I am running Ubuntu 12.04.
If I open a Terminal window ( CTRL-ALT-T) Then right click on the Terminal window top bar - RIGHT-Click-Move to Another workspace --Workspace 4 The window in 9 out of 10 times just stays there and doesnt move immediately. Now if I click CTRL-ALT-Right arrow to shift to the workspace I intended to send the terminal to. The Terminal immediately dissapears from the parent window. So something about compiz or Unity makes the Terminal app - lag - when moved to a different workspace. Other apps do not show this lag under identical system load conditions I can gladly provide more information hari@hari:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Release: 12.0 hari@hari:~$ apt-cache policy unity unity: Installed: 5.18.0-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 5.18.0-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 5.18.0-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 5.12.0-0ubuntu3~webapps7 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/webapps/preview/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages 5.10.0-0ubuntu6 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages hari@hari:~$ apt-cache policy compiz compiz: Installed: 1:0.9.7.12-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 1:0.9.7.12-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1:0.9.7.12-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:0.9.7.6-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages hari@hari:~$ apt-cache policy gnome-terminal gnome-terminal: Installed: 3.4.1.1-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 3.4.1.1-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 3.4.1.1-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: unity 5.18.0-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-40.64-generic 3.2.40 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-40-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus.0: Error: [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0' .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: "" .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 304.64 Tue Oct 30 10:58:20 PDT 2012 GCC version: gcc version 4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) .proc.driver.nvidia.warnings.fbdev: Your system is not currently configured to drive a VGA console on the primary VGA device.
