I have a similar problem: black screen directly after first boot, but
then at the second, a puple screen appears and tells me that Ubuntu
could not mount my harddrive. (Ubuntu is installed on a SSD). I then
proceed without having it mounted and the harddrive then appears one
minute later. This happens on every boot .

Also, every time the computer enter sleep/idle mode (whatever it is
called) it freezes. I have to force it to shut down, turn on it again,
turn it off again (remeber: never succeed at first time), turn it on
again, chooses to not mount harddrive, wait one minute and then I just
have to open all projects.

Another issue is that I can't turn off my computer from Ubuntu, but that
might be another bug.

I installed Ubuntu 7 days ago on a completely new computer (amd64) and I
have reinstalled it 7 times already. (Yes I count).

Goodbye Ubuntu, welcome Windows. I just can't have it this way :'(
