Thanks for your bug report Chuck. Basically, the gnuplot meta depends on gnuplot-nox and gnuplot-x11:
[...] Version: 4.0.0-5 Depends: gnuplot-nox (= 4.0.0-5), gnuplot-x11 (= 4.0.0-5) [...] But you can choose one of these or both (no need to install by meta package). All is OK with packages.
