First, I suggest upgrading your ALSA module (no point in lengthy debugging if it's already been fixed upstream): https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS
If, after restarting, that doesn't help, then I would try with probe_mask option in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf Open the file for editing: gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf Add a line like this to the end of the file: options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=0 probe_mask=8 Save. Quit. Restart ALSA (You can restart ALSA without restarting your machine with this command): sudo alsa force-reload Another idea is a BIOS update, but that's a long shot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1153389 Title: "no codecs initialized" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1153389/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
