Public bug reported: Having run the live 13.04 beta (downloaded 4 Mar, updated 5th) desktop runs *beautifully* on [AMD] nee ATI Caicos [Radeon HD 6450] with system graphics reported as 'Gallium 0.4 on AMD CAICOS', but after install the system hangs at an overscanning (or blank colour) log-on screen. Note: system installed with 'download propriety software'=no.
Properitry drivers then installed via 'safe mode'/reboot but staggers along & nowhere near as smooth as the Live DVD (which was great with all the 3D functionality/workspaces etc working perfectly) *** note this ubuntu-bug report was generated after restarting in recovery mode*** (because whatever driver was trying to load failed totally at log in screen so I could not run U-B in that mode) I hope it helps anyway!
