Martin, just to clarify, is this happening intermittently for you, or is it happening every time you use Alt+Tab?
I encountered this same problem using GNOME Shell with the latest version of the fglrx graphics driver. It appears intermittently, and feels a lot like a stuck grab. I normally use the open source radeon driver, and with that driver the shell works just about perfectly — this issue definitely doesn't occur.
