Seconded, I have an HP DeskJet 3520 e-All-In-One and had to backport hplip from Raring to use it (PPA ir here: https://launchpad.net/~lvillani/+archive/hplip - I've been using it for some time and got no problems so far). Having the new version distributed as an SRU would enable out-of-the-box support for these newer printers.
