Public bug reported: I am running Release 12.10 (quantal) 64-bit with kernel Linux 3.5.0-22-generic #34-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 8 21:47:00 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.
When I update the kernel version, now last time from 3.5.0-21 to 3.5.0-22, my wireless interface don't get activated. The wifi interface is a Ralink corp. RT3090 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe and I suppose the driver kernel module is rt2800pci. I've tried to do $ sudo apt-get --reinstall install linux-firmware-nonfree over a wired connection to no avail, the wifi interface will still not load. The only way that I've found to get the the WiFi working again after kernel update (this has happened at previous updates also) is to boot the computer into Windows 7 and then reboot it to Ubuntu and the WiFi comes back. Now I experience the same problem when updating to kernel 3.5.0-24 ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Tags: quantal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1129975 Title: RT3090 Wireless don't get activated when switching kernel version.
