I also have this bug with ubuntu 12.10 64 bits, mint edition, and an ati r5770. This bug usually happens after a long period of idle, i never had this freeze while doing cpu intensive applications for example. The freeze is a complete lockdown, no mouse or keyboard, and the screen freezes at once, no black screen. Also, when i was listening to music, the music keeps on playing.
